The Friends of the Alamance County Public Libraries is a 501-(C)-3 nonprofit group formed to serve as a vibrant, active advocate of local libraries, education, and literacy. We are a totally volunteer organization whose members spend hundreds of hours each year in support of our cause.
After each sale, our shelves are completely emptied! The books, DVDs, and CDs available at our sales were donated by people like you! You can drop off up to three boxes at any ACPL branch. For larger donations, use our Contact Us page to arrange for us to coordinate with you. Sorry, but we do not accept encyclopedia sets over five years old, magazines, cassettes, VHS tapes, or Readers' Digest Condensed Books.
A large percentage of the budget for the Friends of the Alamance Co. Public Libraries goes to support the programming for toddlers through adults at all four county libraries. Books Over Coffee, A Midsummer’s Night Picnic for teens, ACT OUT, and the Summer Reading programs are just a few examples. The prizes, food, supplies and materials used in the programs are paid for by the Friends. In addition to programming, the Friends help provide the Lucky Day collection at the libraries, DVD’s, Zoom Passes, Playaways, and the Book Club kits available to check out at the library. Shopping at our sale and donating books helps support the Friends in their efforts to promote literacy.
Are you passionate about supporting libraries and literacy? Let us know! We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. We'll help you find a way to volunteer that best suits you. We'd love to have you join the team!
